Comic Relief - Sport Relief Mile

15 of the YESS project staff, students and friends joined thousands of runners on Sunday 21.03.10 for the Sport Relief Mile to raise money for a great cause. The team arrived to a sunny day and perfect conditions for an afternoon run along Victoria Embankment. Raising nearly £2000.

Two of the students from the project, Camara and Harry, bought parents along to show their support either by joining in with the mile or cheering from the sidelines. Camara and Harry both had little confidence when they first joined the YESS project, but they now feel able to be included in such a big event and were very pleased with their achievement. Camara said, "I never thought I'd do something like that. It felt good to make money for Sport Relief".

Ayse, a teacher at the project, said "There was a great atmosphere on the day and I was really proud to be supporting such a good cause. Even though a mile is not a huge distance, I still felt that I did my bit and it was a fun day."

The YESS team enjoyed the Sport Relief mile and look forward to returning next year!
